My Bridal Diary : One month to the Engagement ~The Lehenga arrives,Skin breaks out, getting hibigibies !

And I thought I was one of those well organised (rare species) bride to be ! Every thing has been well researched,pinned , planned and sorted ! With one month left to the Engagement nothing seems to work in favor. One tick on the checklist brings on 3 more to do's. Sigh!

If you have gone through my previous Bridal Diary posts, you know that I live in a place which is 500kms from my city Kolkata. Every month I try to get a leave of 5 days to go home. With 2 days spent on travelling I have an effective 3 days to work ( hop,shop scout everything related to the wedding) !!!

I guess you can sense my utter disappointment on the "time shortage!!" Last week has been the craziest and here's how ~



The Lehenga Saga

My lehenga was definitely the first and the most important agenda of my visit last week. I had seeked the help of my friend's designer cousin for it. The cousin had introduced me to her partner/designer on January. We had sat together, discussed and designed the lehenga. All February I sat and dreamt of the prospect of my dream lehenga. 

And then the totally unexpected happens when I get to see it. Except for the color and material of the fabric, the design was not exactly what I had dreamt (and discussed).The thread work , the zari border everything was different. And to top, they had added a (totally tacky) velvet patch near the waist ~ to add shape (definition) to my otherwise pear shaped body.  I felt like screaming and crying ! 

The cajoling and pushing started (from the partner designer)..on how it looked flattering on me and etc.I was pissed off. I may not have a perfect body shape , I may have curves at all wrong places but I do have my preference, my taste and I only I know what I can carry off and comfortable in.
Oh and all through February, what I got was only a few sketches of my lehenga. I didn't have any clue on how the actual color was and how the whole thing was framing. They didn't bother me to keep updated (pictorial).And from that sketch I had absolutely NO idea about that velvette patch.

Anyways, I said them to scrap off that velvette patch first. Get rid of the tacky latkans, add a few beads. I swear if I had a little more time na.. I would have made them to start from the scratch.

THANKFULLY, a few days later.. my lehenga arrived ! Not exactly what I dreamt of.. but close and I was HAPPY !

Had Similar experience with my other tailor. I placed order for 2 blouses.. none of them fitted. Either they were too tight or too lose ! I had to go to them 4 consecutive days !!!

Skin Issues 

This is my newest concern (pain in the a**) My otherwise well behaved combination skin decided to be a brat ! Am having more breakouts now, than I had in my whole life !!! Under treatement .. grr

Wedding date issues 

In bengali weddings , the date of marriage is fixed in engagement/sagai ( patipatra as we call it). We thought of a November wedding.. but a possibility of university examination is peek-a-booing in that month.So, one month to the engagement , we don't have a date fixed. We can't pre-pone it, so most likely by default it will be december. Winter weddings are more comfortable than sweaty summers I guess.

Makeup Artist : Booked Nabin Das. But did not meet him (due to time constraints ) With no trials either, this can be a potential  'apne pair pe kulhari maarna' !

Photographer  : Need to poke this guy. He didn't want any advance either... hope he doesn't back off at the eleventh hour!

Mehendi people , Salon/ beauty parlor for last minute pampering ! Not yet decided. I think for the Mehendi will go to Mehendiwala's infront of Basanti devi college and pick via "inkey pinky ponkey " For mani, pedi , hair spa ~ Be bonne. Facial ~ be bonne or four fountain spa.

On a happier note ,

• Shopped bangles from Tanishq and TBZ. 
• Dull Gold jutis from Metro (to go with the lehenga)
• MAC blush, lippies and Inglot concealer ( which I would be able to show you only next month, since they are a gift from the boy's side)
• Had a spa experience at Four fountain's spa
• Bought the boy's outfit from Manyavaar and kohlapuris from Kohlapuri centre , Ballygaunge

TO DO : 

Month April , No. of days to do : One

• Buy not so tacky, latkans 
• That choli might need to be loosened a bit owing to my escalating weight
• OMG !! Totally forgot a clutch.. pouch/potli watteva.. but I need to buy one 

Till then :

• Decide on marriage date (honeymoon plans and bookings can't be done without this)
• Keep calm, try to loose weight
• Start pinning Furniture ideas for the place to live
• Breathe
