Best Bridal Makeup Artist in Kolkata

 This is a much requested post ..Thank you all, I absolutely enjoyed doing this.

 When I was beggining my hunt few months back, none of the search results I googled "bridal makeup artist in kolkata" ..  were not at all  satisfactory *grumpy face* So, in this post I shall put together a list of the best bridal makeup artists , for all bride to be's , who are getting married or engaged in Kolkata... 



  • Aniruddha Chaklader

One of the most acclaimed and talented MUA from Kolkata,. His signature style is  smoky eyes, with lods of kohl. Aniruddha himself does the eyes and sometimes the face contouring.My cousin's wedding makeup was done by him. He works with his team of MUA's . In his studio, you will find chairs lined up..and you will be rotating from one table to another..first the hair..then the base..then the eyes..and so on! (as if you are in a viva table LOL ).Neverthless, the whole process is very systematic and organised.Have heard he offers discount if you book for 2/3 days (like engagement/wedding/reception)

I think I will book him for my big day!

 I have booked him for my engagement. Another well know name in Kolkata's Fashion Circuit.He is more on to peachy pink lips . One of my senior in college had done her makeup from him.Quite commendable job. Of, what I have heard, he does everything by himself..the makeup,hair..et all.If am satisfied with my engagement look, I may book him for the bridal too.

(grr, I don't understand why MUA's in Kolkata charge that much for trial.My suggestion..chuck it if you  are on a budget !)

Of what I have heard, Nabin Das and Jeetu are "mama-bhanja" (or relatives for that matter) Anyaways, the same senior of mine, who went for bridal makeup with Nabin Das had booked Jeetu for the reception. What I love about this one, is , he brings on tradition and contemporary looks at the same time.Very lady like, very peachy !

Abhijit Chanda is all for natural and subtle looks .He brings out the innocence and sensousness of his brides beautifully . I have not see his work in person, but in facebook and other bengali magazines. However I have read some faux pass here.

She is another leading MUA in Kolkata. I have not seen her work in person but in magazines.Really good work.

Another well reputed name in bridal make up in southern avenue,South Calcutta.One of my friend did her reception makeup from them and she looked quite pretty.They are more into traditional makeup.

One of my close friend's makeup was done by them.Good work. 




    Head Turners    , Eye catchers and Jawed Habib are reputed salons.. but not too good in Bridal makeup. However, you can keep them in your list. Also they have different charges for bridal and engagement makeup.

  2. I actually know Kakoli di, she is a childhood friend of my cousin sister. What I didn't know was that she had become sooo popular in Calcutta!! I guess it goes to show how long I haven't visited home :(

  3. Have seen Sudip Dey's work on my friend http://www.facebook.com/sudip.dey.1023, and he does good job with the base if you have problematic skin...see his album for the before and after pics..charges are around 5k I guess.

  6. Arpita debir kaaj naaki khub-i bhalo. Also, another fellow called Arup Adhikari. Amar bff er reception er makeup korechhilo and it was better than the biye which was done by Chakladar.

  7. Julie Sen is also very good. Among beauty parlors, 'Kabari' in South Kolkata is one of the oldest ones and they also do a very good job. In North Kolkata, 'Saajo' is there, but the owner, Ruby Biswas, is a bit stubborn, i.e, she has her own idea about what looks good on whom and won't listen to your ideas. 'Shakamvari' is also an old one. I have seen VLCC's make up also, which is good, but they charge a bomb which it definitely not worth. Can't remember the man who worked at Kabari and then later with the boutique 'Ananda', there was an article on him in 'Sananda' magazine once. His style is a bit dated and he probably doesn't work now. From my personal experience, Aniruddha Chakladar is worth each paisa spent. :)

    1. Thank you Retina :) I have heard of Kabari..most probabs its in Southern Avenue na.They do really good work.. iduh ! i forgot mentioning in the post (will update it). Kabari does a more sort of traditional work. I don;t like stubborn MUA.. how is Shakamvari ..? I see their advs in sananda.
      Aniruddha is definitely worth it.. :) :) Thnx for dropping by ..

    2. Shakamvari is a really small place and cramped, so it's better to call them at home for which they charge 11000 onwards (in 2012). Their style of work is traditional and simple. But I think I put it wrongly, Saajo's bridal work is quite good despite the stubbornness. :)

    Thanks for this post. I am getting married in November and the groom is from Kolkata. The reception will be in Kolkata and I had no idea how to find a good MUA there... your post was like a gift to me!! When is your wedding? All the best for it!
