I had super-oily acne prone skin since many years.. But my acne subsided four yrs back and underwent laser treatment to reduce scars.. I was happy all these years without acne..


During last winter, some areas on my face went super dry and others remained normal or sometimes oily.. really a bad skin..


When I started trying new products to reduce my dryness, my acne aggravated.. Oh God!!!..  I don’t know any Derma here..  I searched and finally found one quite far from my place, thank God she is an Indian and she knows Tamil too. She suggested this cleanser and differin cream for acne.

The temperature is getting really high here in Kolkata and if that was not enough the always high humidity is making my skin and hair getting crazy ..*humph* I hate it ! This is my second Velvet Matt Lipstick from Colorbar as I have lost the first one which was peach Tango. I decided to buy this one as I have read so many good reviews about it. I have been wearing this a lot since I bought it, alternately with my lakme one in the shade 651 Barely there.

Vega Professional Make up brushes- PB15 ( blending brush) PB08 (angular blender) Review

Being a novice in makeup I didn't actually want to spend huge bucks on makeup brushes. I am still learning the basics and for achieving practicing a particular look I wanted something which was,most importantly within my budget. Vega brushes were everywhere on the e-shopping sites . They sounded good,looked promising and were reasonably priced.
So, today am going to review two of these.. PB08 (angular blender) and PB15(eye brush/blending brush)

Apple Cider Vinegar- In my Hair care

Vinegar in hair care !!??? I was like huh? I browsed through couple of blogs and sites and saw bloggers swearing by this as a natural hair care product ranging right from hair loss to lice infestation ! I honestly wasn't convinced at all and feared of hair fall ,thinning and all going wrong with my hair if I used something like that.
I went ahead ..'researched'..and again Baba google dev came to my rescue. I was bit assured now and have been using Apple cider vinegar once a week,as a hair rinse (as part of my DIY hair spa)


So,here's a brief on the uses of Apple cider vinegar in Hair care

What is apple cider vinegar(ACV)? 

As per wikepedia, Apple cider vinegar, otherwise known as cider vinegar or ACV, is a type of vinegar made from cider or apple must and has a pale to medium amber color. Unpasteurized or organic ACV contains mother of vinegar, which has a cobweb-like appearance and can make the vinegar look slightly congealed.
ACV is used in salad dressings, marinades, vinaigrettes, food preservatives, and chutneys, among other things. It is made by crushing apples and squeezing out the liquid. Bacteria and Yeast are added to the liquid to start the alcoholic fermentation process, and the sugars are turned into alcohol. In a second fermentation process, the alcohol is converted into vinegar by acetic acid-forming bacteria (acetobacter). Acetic acid and malic acid give vinegar its sour taste.

Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture Combination skin Review

Is it only me or all of you...but every time I hear of 'Neutrogena'..i visualise chunk of soyabeans from neutrela :P (err..I sort of like soyabeans actually ). Anyways, before starting this post I must mention a bit bout my skin type. Well,it's combination-dry (no NOT normal-combination/oily-combination).

So,what is it like to have a Combination-Dry skin? Well..if you feel you "t-zone" that's forehead,nose and chin is a bit oily than the rest of your face,you have combination skin. To classify more minutely into oily/normal/dry -combination,you need to know the extent your t-zone is oily . In my case,just the centre of my forehead ,sides of nose and the centre of chin is oily,whereas the rest of my face is dry .

Recently my mom got me this Neutrogena Oil free Moisture Combination Skin for me ! The claims were really promising and I thought this was the perfect time(weather) to try it out!

I had never used any kind of makeup in regular day  to day basis in my life till ‘blogging’ happened. So,began my tryst with with all types of kohls,kajals and gel –eyeliners. Before stepping out  for work,every morning I religiously  tightline my eyes..

Here's my first review for Sukanya's blog few unnecessary stuff.. It's The Body shop's Rainforest Moisture hair butter.

I have predominantly dry hair with slightly oily scalp.But the daily exposure to sun and dust has made my hair coarse and rough ! My hair screamed for some special attention !The other day we were talking girlie stuffs over lunch and noticed Sukanya's ( well,she is my bff ) hair looked amazing.It had nice bounce ,looked healthy and to top it up had a dazzling shine...and she was going ga-ga over the TBS stuffs she is using now .She then suggested me to try this hair butter from TBS.I didn't get the Rainforest Radiance hair butter [READ REVIEW HERE] as it was meant for colored hair and instead got the one solely made for dry hair.

MakeUp Basics- How to apply liquid eyeliner

I got a mail recently to do a tutorial on How to apply liquid liner..So,here it is..the most basic step of eye makeup.


I hope it helps some makeup novices like me =)

Yeah , I kinda black n white-ened it to make the liner appear blacker :P 

1. Start lining from the middle of the lid,leaving the inner 1/3rd bare.Keep a thin gap between the lash line and the line you are drawing.(if you have shaky hands,rest your elbow on a table).If you are unable to draw a straight line at a go,draw small lines or put dots and join them later
2. Fill in the gap between the lashline and the line you drew
3. Now,line the rest of your eye starting from the inner corner to the centre.Line should be thicker as you go out.
4. If you want a thick line,just layer it up 
5. Line your upper waterline with a jet black kajal,to ensure no gap is visible at the lashline and also create an illusion of thick lashes (this is called tightlining)
6. If you want,line your lower waterline and lash line with the kajal and follow up with some mascara 

You can also use a gel eyeliner instead of a liquid liner for this or even a kohl pencil would be great for beginners and those with shaky hands.


I do not use liquid liner on my lower lashlines

I kept the inner corners bare for this tutorial and also didn't extend the kajal in the lower lashline to meet with the liner above ,just to keep things neat,clear and easily understandable.

Hand Creams are my new found love.. earlier I thought of them as luxury products, fancy stuffs,meant for err..umm.. the "higher class ladies " ..but with the advancing age of my profession and regular abuse with lots of chemical powders ,latex gloves and cheap soaps [Yeah! state run hospitals don't treat their doctors well too.. :(  ] I realized my hands needed some special attention. After all I personally think your hands speak a million words about you as do your eyes :)


Sometime back I got The Nature's co.'s Kiwi hand and Nail cream, and am ready to review it ! 

Neutral Eye Makeup With A POP-UP Color !

step 1 >    First I am applying garnier tinted eye roll on in medium shade as concealer 

step 2>     then blending it with finger tips by dabbing gently

step 3>     Then setting the concealer with oriflame compact powder

step 4>      then applying a medium brown colour eyeshadow on the lid from "The Color Workshop" 5 color eyeshadow palette

step 5>      Then taking the creamy-beige colour and applying it on the brow bone and also blending out the harsh edges of the medium brown eyeshadow applied earlier

step 6>      then I'm mixing the dark brown eyeshadow of the palette with the creamy beige eyeshadoe and applying on the crease and outer corner with light hand.This will act as a transition colour .

step 7>    then taking the Kleancolor kohl liner, I am applying it on the waterline

step 8>    then taking the same kohl pencil, I'm lining the upper lashline

step 9>    with an angular brush I'm extending the liner to create a wing

step 10>   This is how it looks after creating a wing 

step 11>   then taking the Lakme Glide on Pencil in Aqua blue, I am lining my lower lashline and connecting it with the wing

step 12>   Lastly I am applying few coats of black mascara

And we are done :)

Well, I tried to do this Nude Pink n brown Smoky eye look and Failed ! (to be honest) I blended up in utter dissapointment and realised this could be passed on as an everyday work look =)


It's very subtle and very me ... Hope you like it !

The Nature;s co. Cool Cucumber Face Wash Review

It's first week of March and Summer is actually knocking at the doors... specially here in Kolkata, temperature has already started soaring as has done the humidity levels ! Result? me getting all chip chipa and sweaty sweaty ..uggh ! I sweat a lot :(


...and my T-zone !! is already getting those painfull zits n bumps ..aka pimples (I have a combination to dry skin fyi)
