VLCC Lavang Moisturiser Review

Guest Post by Laxmi

My skin reacts much to climate and location. When I am here in Saudi, it is combination-dry and when I go to Chennai during vacation, it turns out be combination-oily in winters and super oily in summers..
Products which I use here do not work that good when I use it in India. So I better switch products depending upon where I stay.

If I need to visit Chennai during summers, I avoid makeup.. This is my routine when I step out for shopping (he he he.. I spend lots of time shopping during my vacation) – cleanse, tone, moisturize, apply sunscreen.

Price: Rs. 115 for 100ml

Claims, How to use and Ingredients:

My take on VLCC Lavang Moisturiser (when my skin was super-oily):
This was suggested by a SA at Health & Glow after looking at my super-oily face. Sometimes SAs do good job. She suggested this one along with VLCC Astringent. She told me a very little amount of both of them would be sufficient for entire face and neck.
It is milky white in color, quite runny in texture.
This is a very light moisturizer.. It is not at all heavy on my face and does not make my skin greasy.. This controls oil secretion for some time, may be for 2-3 hours.. This is what I want in summers that too in Chennai..
After usage of this moisturizer for two months along with VLCC astringent, I would say my pimples appeared rare. I could also notice that my skin appeared much fairer than earlier.
The major CON of this product is that it burns the skin and eyes very bad for few minutes after application.  Surprisingly, it leaves a cool sensation (again for few minutes) when the burning stops.
It smells more of cloves and is too much. I thought with time, either I would get used to the smell or it would get reduced by itself as some products smell too much when its new.. But I would not say there is a considerable decrease of smell with time, though reduced a bit.. I came to know I can never be used to this smell.

PROS of VLCC Lavang Moisturiser:

  • Non-greasy.
  • Moisturizes the skin and makes it healthy.
  • Keeps pimples at bay.
  • Contains herbal ingredients.
  • No breakouts or irritation. (I’ve got sensitive skin)
  • Reduces redness caused by acne.
  • Controls oil secretion.
  • Comes with flip-cap packaging.
  • Available easily.
  • Affordable.

CONS of VLCC Lavang Moisturiser:

  • Takes some time to absorb into the skin.
  • Over-powering smell of Cloves. But it does not stay around for longer time.
  • Both the skin and eyes burns for few minutes after application.
  • Not travel-friendly Packaging. The cap is not sturdy.. It broke off when I took it somewhere.

My Rating: 3/5

Final Verdict: If your skin is super oily, acne prone and you are a kind of person who skips moisturizer, then this is yours as it is non-greasy, keeps pimples at bay and very light. But
be prepared for the smell and burning sensation though for few minutes.
I think this will not suit Normal skin though VLCC claims so..
Though I have never seen a good review about this Moisturizer, I cannot say this is a bad product.
I have started using Olay here and Neutrogena oil-free moisture during my Chennai visits. My skin type has also changed from super oily to oily but my skin is unpredictable. I would consider buying this if my skin goes back to that super-oily stage.

  3. What a coincidence! I have been using this for the last few months. I won;t say it helps my acne, but neither does it aggravate it. It;s so light and non-greasy for my oily skin.
    Totally agree.
